Chat line

You can talk with a group of people in various parts of the world over the net all at the same time. You simply enter a chat room and read the conversation, which appears typed on your screen. You then join in by typing a message back. Your message will then appear in a few seconds on everyone else's screen. It can be great fun with the right people. File

Just as sheets of paper can be collated to form a file in a filing cabinet, a collection of data (on a computer) can form a file in the computers memory. Each computer file has it's own file name.

Hard Copy

This is the printed output from a computer, which can be taken away and studied.

Home Page

The Home Page is the first page that a visitor sees when they visit your web site. It's the entrance to your web.
It should tell the reader as quickly as possible what your company does and focus there attention on the core things that you want them to see.

Internet

The Internet is made up of millions of computers linked together so that they can exchange messages, files, video, sound and software.

ISP

ISP stands for Internet Service Provider.

tMeta tag is used by search engines to allow them to more accurately list your site in their indexes. Sometimes. If you simply produce your home page and register the URL with a search engine, or a number of search engines, their spider programmes will (eventually) toddle along to your site to index it. Now, each of the search engines does this slightly differently.

Password

A group of characters correctly given when demanded by a computer allows access by the user.

PDF files (Adobe Acrobat)

PDF is a file format created by Adobe that lets you view and print documents exactly as they are designed. It doesn't matter which computer system you use (Windows or Macintosh). You don't need to have the same application or fonts that are used to create the file. The font may not look exactly the same in some cases but the line endings and spacing will be the same.
We create PDF files using Adobe Acrobat. PDF has pretty much become an Internet standard for electronic distribution and can be viewed in web pages as well as being sent as email attachments
We can deliver PDF files to you via email or on disk, and you can view and print them using Adobe Acrobat Reader software.

In a shop where the goods change hands, where they are sold. Advertising materials used in this area are referred to as point-of-sale.

Real Time

Used to describe a computer system which accepts data and updates it's records at that time (in real time), feeding back information immediately.

Resolution

High Resolution graphics have more detail and the file size is larger.
Low resolution graphics have less detail and the file size is smaller.

Search Engines allow us to search for web sites by typing in a key word. A search will be done and the results (direct links to relative web sites) are displayed on the users screen. 88% of the time, internet users find web sites through search engines.

Spamming

Sending emails to people who have not requested information, is known as spamming, which is unprofessional and unacceptable. Obviously spam can be very annoying for the recipient especially when their inbox fills up with lots of unwanted junk mail.
